The performance of neodymium-iron-boron permanent magnets is indicated by specific grades, which generally include Chinese standards, American standards, and European standards. Among them, customers are accustomed to using grades based on Chinese standards, such as N50, N52H, etc. Once the grade is determined, the customer's requirements for magnetic performance can be quickly clarified. If the customer is not clear about the grade, it is necessary to confirm key parameters such as the magnet's residual magnetism, coercivity, maximum energy product, and magnetic flux in sequence.
The shape and size of neodymium-iron-boron permanent magnets must be clearly defined. Once the size is determined, the tolerance also needs to be confirmed, such as 86mm (±0.05mm); otherwise, it will directly affect the adaptation of the end product. For neodymium-iron-boron permanent magnets with complex shapes, the contour and its angle requirements also need to be confirmed one by one. It is strongly recommended that customers provide clear drawings. If not, our technical engineer can help you draw them. In addition, it is necessary to determine the magnetization direction (i.e., the N and S poles), magnetization method, magnetization angle, magnetic declination, etc.
Sintered neodymium-iron-boron permanent magnets are produced using powder metallurgy technology and are a kind of powder material with high chemical activity. There are tiny pores and cavities inside them, which are prone to corrosion and oxidation in the air. Once the magnets are corroded or their components are damaged, their magnetic properties will gradually reduce or even be lost over time, thereby affecting the performance and service life of the entire machine. Therefore, strict anti-corrosion treatment must be carried out before use. At present, common anti-corrosion treatments for neodymium-iron-boron magnets include electroplating, electroless plating, electrophoretic coating, phosphating, etc. Among them, electroplating, as a mature metal surface treatment method, is widely used.
